Jacy, please give our readers a little introduction to your life as a successful makeup artist and influencer.
I have been a make-up artist for some years now, originally starting out in the Hair salon as a Saturday girl, progressing to a full time career in Hairdressing. As time went on I settled down & had a family which meant I couldn't commit to the unsociable hours of Salon life which lead me to study Media, Film & Theatrical Hair & Make-up.
Ever since I have never looked back - My job now allows me the flexibility as a freelancer to work around my family with each job being different & fun.
I must say it is the best job in the world! Having the ability to give others confidence & happiness through making them look and feel good is incredibly powerful and makes me happy. It really is such a rewarding career.
What does your usual workflow look like?
Doing both Hair & Makeup has opened up so many doors of opportunity and every working week is different. One day I might be doing Natural Editorial Campaign or Magazine looks, or Glam Event, Avant Garde fashion show or themed photography shoots, regular clients Hair Colour, Cuts & styling.
Traveling around London & beyond is exciting making new contacts & networking wherever I go. I have met life long friends whilst on set & it is a lovely industry to be in. All which has led to building a team of like minded Hair & Make-up professionals @backstage_production_team (Instagram). We provide support to Shows & Events & have become a working family.
What camera gear do you currently use to create content and interact with your audience?
I generally use my Android smartphone which works well but does not display all the features I need to really show off my work and create maximum exposure. Instagram has been my main social media platform just because I love the features for interacting with my audience such as reels & lives.
What technical obstacles do you usually face when working with your current camera?
Smartphone camera is not a professional camera tailored for my work, more for everyday use. I am limited to standard features which don't always show off my work in the best light & can be very time consuming.
After hearing about Alice camera I have realized how perfectly tailored to my wants & needs as a creative having one would be.
